Vahé:LeisureCAST

over the coming weeks i'll be posting up a brand new batch of mixes, consisting of all kindsa music (pretty much whatever has been collecting e-dust on my hard drive and deserves to be showered upon the rest of you). they'll all be loosely-themed, but the main thread they'll all have in common is that they're the shit. so LeisureCAST is my new outlet for busting audio nuts all over the interwebs. it's a podcast of sorts, cept you will hardly ever hear my voice over any of the music (i hate talkin over good shit). the first mix is already done and will be online shortly, so hold onto your keys and wigs.

Multi-Facial (starring Vin Diesel)

no it's not a porno. it's actually a short film written, directed and produced by Vin Diesel, which first got him noticed by Hollywood and pretty much led to the career he has now. it's apparently based on Vin's real life experience going for auditions as a mixed-race actor, and how he has to struggle with it. it's surprisingly decent, and while i always knew Vin had acting chops (he showed hints of it here n there), this proves he does without a doubt. it's only 20mins long so check it out.

what does the "T" in T-Pain stand for?

now i realise if you fossick enough on Google, you can find the answer. but i txted y'all to see if you guys knew just as like a general knowledge thing. and if not, what your best guess would be (ar alternatively, what you secretly wish his name to be).

my friends have their say:

"Theodore", -Vahe.
"Testicles", -Bec.
"Tro", -Hagop.
"Thrums", -Jeremy.
"Timbuck", -Raff.
"Terminal. Terminal Pain. thats why he chose black music to sing. cause it's one of the more upbeat and faster genres, and he doesn't have long left. you feel me?", -Mel.
"Throbbing", -Big Dave.
"Thyroid", -Nish.
"i heard it really stands for Trunk", -Bonaccers.
"what's a T-Pain?", -Al.
"Tigger Pain. cause everyone knows that's his secret identity", -Mel...again.
"it is in fact Tomahawk-Pain", -Tronsie.
"T = testicle", -Harryjuku.
"Tyrannosaurus", -Awad.
"Testicle :)", -Aram.
"Testiculor-Pain", -Taz.

AND, the moment you've all been waiting for, JASE ON BASS has actually got the answer:
"Tallahasse, as in his home town in Florida - heard it on a bio"
well there ya go folks.
Testicle had the majority, but Tallahasse-Pain it is.
but this new-found knowledge only leads to the next logical question.....why "PAIN"??
stay tuned.

she said you had my heart open in the palm of your hand, but now...
he said ...did you love me?
she said ...i buried it in the sand
he said feelings were growing, i could've loved you
she said who said i wanted you to?
he said don't leave it like this...

as i lay down to die

24/07/2008

never again to know the touch or smell
forever in the dirt, a world away from hurt
the nothingness expanse
no heaven, no hell

regrets aplenty? for you maybe
fear of the unknown? not me, not i
for when i die, religion man-made will not have tainted
the one, the only TRUE life i haved lived through
suffered, enjoyed
highs, lows
drugs, hos
ok maybe one regret?: breaking my nose

death comes for us all, but hope
take from it the inspiration to live, you'll cope
smoke that weed, pop that pill
don't be slave to the dollar bill
as a celestial body bound to this plain
i can only hope to reform and join the universe once again

universe, star-stuff: father/mother to us all
spare me your holy schtick
i am free in mind, conscience is clear
things i hold dear you will never understand
i am consigned to being a wandering mind, a one-man band
among a bevy of cohorts who see me, but simply don't understand

the purpose of life? up to you
make it up as you go along
do what feels right, brings you and others joy and fulfilment
heed no one's call, follow your own
live, love, fuck, fight
and in the end you'll die:
and everything will be alright.

The Dark Knight

if you've been online in the last couple of weeks, you would have already noticed that not only is the Internets now flooded with talk on The Dark Knight, but also every single person you know in real life is hearing about this film and wanting to see it. a good thing?
sure.

it at least guarantees the film will enjoy a huge, if not record-breaking, worldwide box-office take, almost ensuring a third film in the future. but if you're just the casual fan of the franchise, and of the Batman character and all those associated in its universe, your main motivation for seeing the film has no doubt been the much talked about film-stealing performance of Heath Ledger as The Joker.

and it's not a motivation i scoff at. i'm a huge fan of the Batman mythos, and of the character itself. but without a doubt, Batman's ultimate adversary has been and always will be The Joker. he's the villain that never dies, always pushed Batman's buttons, and always eggs him on to break his one rule: the rule being that Batman does not kill. in the film, it's something The Joker takes delight in punishing Bats for. he knows he can do pretty much whatever the hell he wants, and the caped crusader will only go so far in stopping him. he'd never step over the line, a weakness that Joker uses to his full advantage.

it has to be said, with all the hype surrounding the film and of Ledger's performance in particular, especially after his sudden and unfortunate death, the film really does deliver on every single bit of that hype. sure you may be able to discern some plot holes, Christian Bale's bat-growl may sound dumb and some of the dialogue can be overly-corny, but the overall package results in a completely satisfying experience. personally, i have been anxiously awaiting this film for over a year, even before Heath's death made it into an inevitable juggernaut, keeping up-to-date with set photos and insider info. y'know, the usual fanboy shit.

i got my first taste of The Dark Knight last Tuesday at an afternoon session @ IMAX, which in my humble opinion is unequivocally THE BEST WAY of watching this film. it will blow your mind and leave you, quite literally, breathless. we sat only 4 or 5 rows from the front, and when the opening shot of Gotham City was unleashed onto the 8-story tall screen, everyone in the sold-out theatre gasped: it FELT like we were floating over the top of the buildings.

at a running time of 2.5hrs, a lot of people have had the requisite, cliched complaint that "had it been 30mins shorter, it would've been better". i call bullshit on this criticism. this is a film so rich in content, so visually striking, with one massive standout performance and a bevy of major and minor characters to work with, that 2.5hrs didn't even do it justice. the film felt more like an epic crime drama than a "comic book movie", and deserves to be 3.5hrs.

if i could make one complaint (and in a review, one must always make at least one), for a film titled The Dark Knight, Batman didn't get as much shine. he played second-fiddle to the real star of the film: The Joker. but, on further reflection of this, i think back to the animated series. anytime Joker was involved, the focus was squarely on him. he stole the show. that's who he is and what he does as a villainous character. in this regard, it makes sense that Batman took a backseat this time around.

this film is going to be absolutely massive, if it isn't already. go see it. the end.

Soul Deep - Lollipop (feat. Mista Vee)

i was trying to think of the best way of introducing this cover me and the Soul Deep Live band did last week of the Lil Wayne classic, "lollipop". but the best i can do is this:

"so last week everyone got stoned and we made THIS!"
meh. s'good enough.
so here 'tis, the epic live cover which runs for an excrutiating 13:57, and features urs truly on vocal duties. halfway through the song lead singer of Soul Deep (Gav) jumps in while i go for a smoke break, and i come back at the end to finish it off. if u got the time (and the infinite fucking patience), have a listen ;)
Raff on keys.
Jeremy on geetar.
Baby J on drums.
Jase on bass.
Mista Vee & The G.A.K. on vocals.

Naked Music - Re-Creation

while we were all sleeping, Naked Music quietly dropped this album of new songs. all produced by Jay Denes (aka Blue Six), it's apparently in honour of Naked's 10th anniversary as an underground music label powerhouse. the 11-track album features signature voices of the Naked sound, such as Catherine Russell, Mark Anthony Jones (of Summerland), Dave Boonshoft, Saul Rubin and newcomer Tabitha Fair. from the snippets i've heard, it sounds like another solid release.

Vahé Presents...The Leisure Suite: 010. Mashed Potatoes Vol. 2

so it's been a while, and i was in a random mood. the Mashed Potatoes series is all about trying to cover as many musical bases as possible, but without ruining the flow of the overall mix. so, like the first one, i've stuck at least a few tracks of each genre so it flows, as Bruce Lee put it, "like waaaaater, my friend". this volume mainly covers contemporary funk n soul, experimental jazz fusion, 80s funk, reggae, downtempo, poprock, acoustic & hip-hop. enough genres to poke, or even jab, a stick at.

tracklist:
01. maxwell - the urban theme (unfaded) (4:50)
02. grooveman spot - 1,2,3,4 (feat. jeru the damaja) (4:50)
03. mista grimm - ebonics (2:58)
04. lefties soul connection - funky chick (3:29)
05. dimitri from paris - strong man (for real) (5:21)
06. ladybug mecca - show the world (3:35)
07. jamiroquai - slippin' n' slidin' (3:36)
08. citizen king - safety pin (3:44)
09. mulatu astaqé - yèkatit (3:52)
10. sam sparro - clingwrap (3:58)

GONZO: a Hunter S. Thompson documentary

this is the man who penned the awesome literary work which became the awesome film (starring Johnny Depp & Benicio Del Toro, directed by Terry Gilliam): Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas. Johnny spent a lot of time with Hunter when learning how to play him on screen, and subsequently they both became pretty good friends, which (i assume) is why Johnny's reading that quote at the start of the trailer. the important thing is, they're both cool cunts and i'm not :( ...

oh yeah! doco!

brand new Raphael Saadiq tracks: "Like It" | "Love That Girl"

here's a little preview of what to expect from Raphael's forthcoming 3rd solo album. reportedly, the whole thing is as oldschool Motownish as you can possibly get (in 2008). judging from the two tracks above, he's hit the nail on the head. acutally, he's not only hit the nail on the head, he's smashed it with a sledge-hammer equipped with laser-sight. "like it" even features a harmonica solo by none other than the great Steveland Morris.

sam sparro - black & gold

can you believe this guy's an Aussie? what a fucking classic song! i've also managed to get a copy of his album, and it's probably one of the most faithful and authentic-sounding nods to the nu-retro/80s genre since the prophetic Darkdancer by Les Rythmes Digitales in 1999.

------

Real life is so hard

We hide in the stars

Thats where our heads are

My head and your heart

This is a black out

Dont let it go to waste

This is a black out

I want to detonate

When you are so far

Im falling apart

Lose all my sonar

You jam my radar

This is a black out

Dont let it go to waste

This is a black out

I want to detonate

Sometimes I feel Im getting stuck

Between the handshake and the fuck

Youve got me on guard

Ive got my head start

My head and your heart

The same in the stars

This is a black out

Dont let it go to waste

This is a black out

I want to detonate

Sometimes I wish that I could change

I cant save you from my poor brain

my interview with...myself

so lemme explain it. im doing a 4 week short-course to gain a certificate 3 in radio presenting (for this dinky lil community radio station). part of our "homework" was to make a short lil interview. the content wasnt important, just the way u put it together. so i basically interviewed myself, but playin two ppl. the interviewer is me, and the interviewee is a slightly pom-accented rock star of a band called FOSSICK. his name is Ignatius Bunt. i guess u could call it a bit of a satire on the state of modern music...but then that would be giving me too much credit as i wrote, recorded and edited the whole thing in about 30mins.

oh yeah, there's lotsa F-bombs throughout so uh, listen by urself or on headphones in case there are old ppl around.

cheers,

oh, and for ur reference:

vahé - "tip-toe (rough mix)"

so about two weeks ago i moved all my shit into our makeshift studio in the garage. i basically been living in here trying to learn all the instruments i can. im already a dummer/percussionist, so i been messin around with the bass and guitar mostly. here's one of the few things that's come out of my experiment sofar. features me, my mum n dad on the handclaps. me on bass, guitar n snare drum. n i programmed the kick n hi hat from FL Studio. all of this is in order for me to learn as many different instruments as i can. i wanna at least be technically proficient in bass, guitar, trumpet, keys and harmonica (yeah you heard me).

i hav a couple other jams i made on bass, live drums, keys n percussion but it still a lil too rough around the edges. i like this one tho. has a lazy headnod to it. lemme kno wat u think.

Vahé (aka araQual) Presents...THE LESSON MIXTAPE #006 - Fuck The Box

well after a long wait, here it is (finally). i was struggling to come up with a subtitle to suit the theme this time around, but i think "Fuck The Box" lays it down as well as anything. in case you're thinking it's actually a sexual metaphor, the theme this time around was basically "anything goes". meaning, submissions weren't just limited to the sphere of hip-hop (don't get me wrong, what a lovely sphere it is), but included any and every kind of music out there. as a result, i've recieved tracks that range from: hip-hop, reggae, dub, rock, futuristic breakbeat, electro, pop, acoustic guitar, funk, samba, soul, drum n' bass, r&b, bossa nova, downtempo and a few styles which i can only describe as "experimental". this is the Okayplayer online community really stretching its wings and going in all sorts of directions. i mainly wanted to do this because OKPs have large and varied tastes when it comes to music. although hip-hop is front and center most of the time, we do all share some eclectic styles. i figured, why not show em off? shame no one submitted any polka, tho.

DJ Chachi Mandela - Newborn Old Soul

my good friend, Chachi Mandela (of Club Noir fame), sent me this mix just last night. and since Chachi is a machi and likes to do dutchies in an Iraqi, i was obliged to listen and comment on it. this mix is the finest selection in brand spankin' new soul concoctions which combine tried-and-true formulas of old with the modern, electronic age of music. it's the next logical step in r&b, a genre once referenced as "neo-soul", a term which most aficionados loathe, but i think sums up neatly what the music is attempting to accomplish: that being, the marriage of the old with the new. the following tracks are all recent, some having just been released in the last few months, and none older than 2006. but more importantly, they're all dope (meaning they can be ground into a fine white powder and sniffed with a 50 dollar bill in the toilets of Dorsia).

tracklist

01. al green - lay it down (feat. anthony hamilton) (4:28)
02. tiombe lockhart - mr. johnnie walker (original demo) (3:51)

DEEP THOUGHTS by Annonymous

an old email i found from 2003:
---------

Instead of a trap door, what about a trap window? The guy looks out it, and if he leans too far, he falls out. Wait. I guess that's like a regular window.

If you're a circus clown, and you have a dog that you use in your act, I don't think it's a good idea to also dress the dog up like a clown, because people see that and they think, "Forgive me, but that's just too much."

If you're ever stuck in some thick undergrowth, in your underwear, don't stop and think of what other words have "under" in them, because that's probably the first sign of jungle madness.

Instead of having "answers" on a math test, they should just call them "impressions," and if you got a different "impression," so what, can't we all be brothers?

You know one thing that will really make a woman mad? Just run up and kick her in the butt. (P.S. This also works with men.)

If you want to be the popular one at a party, here's a good thing to do: Go up to some people who are talking and laughing and say, "Well, technically that's illegal." It might fit in with what somebody just said. And even if it doesn't, so what, I hate this stupid party.

How come the dove gets to be the peace symbol? How about the pillow? It has more feathers than the dove, and it doesn't have that dangerous beak.

from what i understand, Two-Face would either not appear til the third film, or the tail-end of The Dark Knight would feature the actual scarring of Harvey Dent, but he wouldn't become the villain til the next film. either way, this is just one more reason (and there are many) why TDK will OWN 2008 (yes, it'll even be better than Iron Man, which i saw and enjoyed Sunday night).

new Dwele album: "Sketches Of A Man", dropping June 24

original story here:
----

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - April 30, 2008) - Soul singer, songwriter and producer Dwele, will release his highly anticipated 3rd studio album "Sketches of a Man" on June 24th through RT Music Group/KOCH Records. "Sketches of a Man," a long time in the making, will be lead by the soulful single "I'm Cheatin'," produced by G-1, the man behind Dwele's breakthrough hit "Find a Way" (from "Subject"). "I'm Cheatin'" is a mind bender which tells of a man who loves his girlfriend's conservative side as well as her care-free side and dreams of cheating on one with the other as if they were two different people. "It's based on a true story that I put a spin on. Unless you really pay attention, you might get the wrong idea," Dwele admits.

This year, Dwele was nominated for a Grammy in the "Best Urban/Alternative Performance" category for his interpretation of "That's The Way of the World," from the Stax Records compilation, "Interpretations: Celebrating the Music of Earth, Wind & Fire." He also appeared on long-time friend Kanye West's Grammy-winning mega hit "Flashing Lights" and on rapper Common's Grammy-nominated single "The People," which made Rolling Stone's list of "100 Best Songs of 2007."

"'Sketches of a Man' is ultimately what I am and where I am in 2008," Dwele explains. "It is inspired by life and love, and it is about finding out how I fit into these different musical genres, or how I would fit into these new cultures. Like, if I spoke French, how would it sound?... I think that's what inspiration is."

"Sketches of a Man" finds Dwele writing, producing, arranging and playing all instruments on nearly all of the tracks on the project. One of the few exceptions is "A Few Reasons," a bouncy groove with a hip hop feel written and performed by Dwele with production from Nottz (Snoop and R. Kelly's "That's That"). Dwele shows us his hip hop side on "Sketches... " with tracks like "Body Rock," and funky ballads like "Open Your Eyes," (a Bobby Caldwell cover), and "Love Ultra," but doesn't stray too far from the soulful roots that we love on tracks like "Vain." On "Vain" Dwele speaks of how difficult it is to hold on to a relationship. "With my music I try to touch on things that everyone can relate to. Things like, being a musician and trying to find the balance between work and love," Dwele says of "Vain."

Dwele is also a fine artist and has created a series of color and black & white mural-size works in acrylic. He is also an accomplished photographer who works in digital as well as the old-fashioned way -- using manual cameras.

One of the most refined and stylish singers to emerge in recent years, Dwele infuses the musical traditions of Motown visionaries Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye, who he listened to growing up on Detroit's west side, into his own contemporary sound. He taught himself to play several instruments including piano, trumpet, guitar and bass before embarking on his journey as a soul singer. His demo tape, 1998's "The Rize," got significant buzz around the Motor City and collaborations with fellow Detroit hip-hop group Slum Village also helped Dwele gain visibility.

He released his critically acclaimed full-length debut "Subject" in 2003, and cemented his appeal to European audiences with an extensive tour that summer. His second album, "Some Kinda," followed in 2005, and featured production from the late J Dilla, as well as Mike City and G1.

Son Of Rambow (trailer)

A runaway audience smash at the Sundance Film Festival, SON OF RAMBOW is a hilariously fresh and visually inventive take on friendship, family, film heroes and the death-defying adventures of growing up in the video age. It all begins in 1980s Britain, when young Will Proudfoot, raised in isolation among The Brethren, a puritanical religious sect in which music and TV are strictly forbidden, encounters something beyond his wildest fantasies: a pirated copy of RAMBO: FIRST BLOOD. His virgin viewing of the iconic thriller blows his mind -- and rapidly expanding imagination -- wide open. Now, Will sets out to join forces with the seemingly diabolical school bully, Lee Carter, to make their own action epic, devising wildly creative, on-the-fly stunts, not to mention equally elaborate schemes for creating a movie of total commitment and non-stop thrills while hiding out from The Brethren. But when school popularity finally descends on Will and Lee in the form of the super-cool French exchange student, Didier Revol, their remarkable new friendship and precious film are pushed, quite literally, to the breaking point.

Citizen King - Mobile Estates

you probably remember the one huge hit this band had back in the day, that song was called "better days". ever since then, i had always been curious about Citizen King. i always admired the amalgum of styles present in just that one song (and only single from this album). then, in 2007, i was able to track down the album from whence this classic hybrid poprock/hip hop/folk ditty came from. it took only two listens through to grab me by the ears and not let go, and has subsequently become one of my prized possessions. the album is a genre soup comprised of elements from rock, hip hop, bluegrass, punk, and even a few tracks i can't even find a classification for. even the worst song on the album, the cacophanous "salt bag spill", grows on you after a few listens. the overall appeal of this record is the undeniable simplicity of it, the instant appeal of its catchy lyrics, clean yet somehow organic production, the perfectly pitched and smooth vocals. there are more than a few rock anthems present on the album, and if they were ever released as follow-up singles to the gold certified "better days", they would've surely been hits.

Ashlee Simpson - Outta My Head (Ay Ya Ya) (Prod. by Timbaland)

no your eyes don't deceive you. Ashlee Simpson has put out one HOT pop song, probably one of the most decent stabs at an authentic 80s track then anything i've heard in a long while (outside of retro electro disco and house). what's even more surprising, is that Timbaland is listed as the producer. what results is a very authentic 80s tribute song with simple, catchy lyrics, sung in such a way that it doesn't require a vocalist with any real skill. all you need to achieve the desired effect (that of the classic 80s pop ditty) is the right inflection in your voice, and a certain off-kilter swagger. the video too is pretty dope, loaded with heaps of 80s references. i had seen the video numerous times on cable music channels, but strangely i didn't hear much about it on the mainstream U.S. music scene. i expected it to blow up to massive proportions, but i have a feeling pre-conceptions about Ashlee Simpson, the manufactured lip-synching younger sister of Jessica, have worked against her. the song is all-around great, but i'm pretty sure its lack of success can be attributed to the negative public opinion on this little starlet in the making. i myself had the same notions about her, but ultimately i made myself promise to adhere to the following mantra a few years ago: if Britney Spears made a great song, i will not be afraid to like it. basically, i don't wanna limit the music i listen to or hear simply because of the name attached to the song, and the consequent baggage that comes with openly applauding someone as unstable as Britney, or someone who is only a star because of their older sibling. but i've held true to that promise thus far, and in the name of disseminating good music to the masses, in all its various forms, i now make my case for Ashlee Simpson's latest single.

pop music has its place, and when done right, is worthy of praise.

Foo Fighters - On The Mend / What If I Do? (Live 2006)

beautiful live acoustic versions of the ethereal tracks "on the mend" & "what if i do?", from disc 2 of In Your Honor. i'm only just falling in love with these songs. it's this weird Foo phenomena which has been gripping me as of late. with the build-up of their imminent live concert (coming up next Saturday, IM SO FUCKING EXCITED), it's like i'll hear a random Foo track i never previously gave a chance, and instantly fall in love with it. these are only the latest two, there's more to come.
"on the mend"

One more day that i've survived
Another night alone
Pay no mind I'm doing fine
I'm breathing on my own
I'm here
And I'm on the mend
I'm here
And I'm on the mend my friend
Wake me when the hour arrives
Wake me with my name
See you somewhere down the line
We're teathered once again
I'm here
And I'm on the mend
I'm here
And I'm on the mend my friend
I'm here
And I'm on the mend
I'm here
And I'm on the mend my friend
Was it you?
Said hello
Here we go
Close your eyes and stay a while
To take me where you go
Single file we walk the mile
Who's wandering back home
I'm here
And I'm on the mend
I'm here
And I'm on the mend my friend
I'm here
And I'm on the mend
I'm here
And I'm on the mend my friend
Was it you?
Said hello
Here we go
Here we go
Here we go
Here we go

"what if i do?"

Back and forth that voice of yours keeps me up at night
Help me search to find the words that eat you up inside
I go side to side like the wildest tides in your hurricane
And I only hide what is on my mind because I can't explain
What if I do love
What if I don't?
I'd have to lose everything just to find you
What if I do love
What if I don't
I'd have to lose everything just to find you
It's my turn this solo burn so throw me in the fire
Trophies earned and lessons learned, my wicked little lies
We can pave new roads with the cold creed stones, wind them through the pines
Should I stay or should I go alone? I cannot decide
What if I do love
What if I don't?
I'd have to lose everything just to find you
What if I do love
What if I don't
I'd have to lose everything just to find you
Carolina, Caroline
Carolina, Caroline
What if I do love
What if I don't?
I'd have to lose everything just to find you
What if I do love
What if I don't
I'd have to lose everything just to find you
Carolina, Caroline
Carolina, Caroline
Carolina, Caroline
Carolina, Caroline

Schoolboy corrects NASA 'killer asteroid' maths

swiped from The Age.

A 13-year-old German schoolboy corrected NASA's estimates on the chances of an asteroid colliding with Earth, a German newspaper reported today, after spotting the boffins had miscalculated.

Nico Marquardt used telescopic findings from the Institute of Astrophysics in Potsdam (AIP) to calculate that there was a one in 450 chance that the Apophis asteroid will collide with Earth, the Potsdamer Neuerster Nachrichten reported.

NASA had previously estimated the chances at only one in 45,000 but told its sister organisation, the European Space Agency (ESA), that the young whizzkid had got it right.

The schoolboy took into consideration the risk of Apophis running into one or more of the 40,000 satellites orbiting Earth during its path close to the planet on April 13, 2029.

Those satellites travel at 3.07 kilometres a second, at up to 35,880 kilometres above earth - and the Apophis asteroid will pass by earth at a distance of 32,500 kilometres. If the asteroid strikes a satellite in 2029, that will change its trajectory making it hit Earth on its next orbit in 2036.

Both NASA and Marquardt agree that if the asteroid does collide with Earth, it will create a ball of iron and iridium 320 metres wide and weighing 200 billion tonnes, which will crash into the Atlantic Ocean.

The shockwaves from that would create huge tsunami waves, destroying both coastlines and inland areas, whilst creating a thick cloud of dust that would darken the skies indefinitely.

The 13-year old made his discovery as part of a regional science competition for which he submitted a project entitled: "Apophis - The Killer Astroid".

wow. 45,000 and 450? that's a huge discrepancy. either way the manufactured image you see at the top of this post? could be a possibility. you know what sucks tho? my first instinct is to say "well, i guess that strikes a blow for religious types, cos why would God be so willing to destroy us so soon and with space-debris, of all things?", but then i realise that the religious would use the asteroid as a harbinger for the End Of Days. in each case, religion once again barely covers its ass. why do i bring up religion in a post about asteroids and eventual impending doom at the hands of the one true god, SPACE? i'll save that for another post. i will however say, that it's got a lot to do with this guy.
